What Do You Want to See in iPhone 5?

What-do-you-want-to-see-in-iphone-5-open-thread--d20bbfc3ac

Apple‘s press event is scheduled for tomorrow, and it’s going to be a biggie. The company will almost certainly unveil its latest iPhone, the so-called “iPhone 5,” during an event at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. It practically said so explicitly in the invitations.

Like an oncoming storm, Apple events bring with them torrents of rumors and speculation, and in this case it’s been happening for over two years. Ever since the iPhone 4 debuted, people have been speculating about a completely redesigned iPhone, and when the iPhone 4S turned out to be an incremental upgrade, that speculation transferred to the next model.

Apple will unveil that next model tomorrow, but what will it bring? Features such as a high-speed LTE connection, a larger screen and a smaller dock connector have all been anticipated, and there’s been discussion about an NFC (near-field communication) chip and new, thinner design.

The new iPhone could potentially bring a lot of new things to the table for iPhone owners (although many of those features have existed on Android phones for a while), but it’s doubtful the iPhone 5 will include everything that’s been discussed or anticipated. Apple must pick and choose.

The biggest factor in that, of course, is what its customers want. So tell us: What would you like to see in the iPhone 5? If you’re a current iPhone owner, what would make you upgrade? And if you’re thinking of becoming a first-time iPhone user, what would make you switch?

Please share your thoughts about what you’d like to see in the iPhone 5 in the comments on this post. And be sure to come back tomorrow morning, when we’ll distill the most popular features and the best comments and put them in a follow-up post.
