Binge-watching Netflix is like binge-eating an entire six-pack of snickers. You hit the highs, and then the lows, and then the highs again. You wonder if it’s acceptable to go for another one, and then you do it, and it’s so satisfyingly good and then the end comes and you’re just left with nothing.
Apart from potentially diabetes in the second instance…
If, like me, you’re filled with that “what am I meant to do with my evenings now Stranger Things is over” feeling, fear not, because Netflix is preparing to bust out another stonker of a show. And it comes from the UK… how very twee.
But if you’re expecting Downtown Abbey, you better go back to your box sets, because Paranoid – a Netflix collaboration with ITV – has the jumps and intrigue of Stranger Things mixed with the mystery of detective series Luther. The trailer shows a pretty brutal murder, in a bloody playground of all places, and the pretty stellar cast including Game of Thrones’ Indira Varma and Downtown Abbey’s Kevin Doyle trying to figure out whodunnit.

Paranoid comes out on ITV – on the actual telly – in Autumn, and will then be available on Netflix shortly after.
