The “Levels” DJ and producer premiered his new album during his set, to mixed reviews and much confusion. While his set started out normal enough, he soon started bringing out guests Aloe Blacc, country singer-songwriter Mac Davis, members of Incubus, and a bluegrass band featuring a kazoo.

“[The new album is] going to be a lot of acoustic elements, but kind of twisted a little bit. It’s way more songs than I’ve done before and it’s everything from folk records to more soulful,” Avicii told Rolling Stone.

Needless to say, many fans hadn’t signed up Avicii’s soulful turn.

8. Hardwell (Weekend 1)

The Dutch DJ and producer rocked the main stage during the first weekend’s Saturday show, and premiered new songs from upcoming releases through his Revealed Recordings label.

7. Deadmau5 (Weekend 1)

The mau5 played the same set both weekends. But we’re guessing festival-goers didn’t care too much, and it was one of the more exciting sets he’s done in recent years. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?

6. Baauer proved he could do more than just the “Harlem Shake.” (Weekend 2)

The trap DJ had the chance to show off what he could do beyond the 30-seconds of “Harlem Shake” that made him a global phenomenon. Grimy, good fun.

5. Armin van Buuren (Weekend 1)

This is for you trance-heads.

The progressive-house DJ and producer took the mainstage before Deadmau5 closed out the Saturday show, and used the hour-long set to run through his more-popular, vocal-driven hits, as well as to premiere a new song, called “Atmosphere.”

3. Knife Party (Weekend 1)

2. Tiesto (Weekend 2)

Hands-down, Tiesto has always reigned king in crowd-pleasing, massive raves. This year’s set was no different.

1. Swedish House Mafia performed their LAST show ever together, bringing their “ONE LAST TOUR” to a close.

Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso opened and closed this year’s festival, with their final performance bringing their time together as a group to a close. (At least, until the inevitable reunion tour.) It was emotional and joyous, with the group displaying a farewell message to the audience as the set came to an end: “You came. We raved. We love you.”
