The Lakers suck so much Jeremy Lin forgot how to speak

It’s no surprise — we called it right here, for example — but the Los Angeles Lakers really, really, really suck this NBA season.

This was thrown into the starkest relief yet on Sunday night when the Golden State Warriors — once stepchildren in the California basketball pecking order — clowned the Lakers up and down their home court on the way to a 136-115 victory that wasn’t even as close as that final score would indicate.

The Lakers are now 1-9 on the year, their worst start in franchise history, and point guard Jeremy Lin was left — literally — speechless when asked just what’s wrong with the team after Sunday night’s mollywhopping at the hands of Golden State.

Keep in mind, this is a guy who went to Harvard for four years. And even he can’t remember how to use his words.

Lin eventually gathered his thoughts and offered some insight, but his stammering, befuddled moment answer perfectly summarizes the Lakers’ season so far.

Sunday night’s blowout was something of a bizarre affair in its lopsidedness, with Kobe Bryant firing up 34 shots en route to 44 points, the Warriors cruising to a preposterous 74-point first half and Golden State point guard Stephen Curry abusing Lin in every conceivable way.

The game’s highlight came in the third quarter when Curry tossed this wizardly around-the-back pass to Marreese Speights for a fast-break dunk.

Curry finished with 30 points and 15 assists through just three quarters, mostly at Lin’s expense. Here are his full highlights; viewer discretion is advised.
