This Trippy Animation Takes You Into The Mind Of Stephen Hawking

Hes known for his insights into spacetime, black holes, and humanity. But when Stephen Hawking isnt pondering the great questions of our cosmic existence, his other passion is music.

In anticipation ofhis upcoming Radio 4 Reith Lectures, the BBC hasreleased a psychedelic animation thatdelves straight intothemind of one of the worlds most famous physicists.

This kaleidoscopic trip was created by Aardman Studios the plasticine-fueled geniuses behind Wallace and Gromit, Morph, andFlushed Away.Although Hawking takes the starring role, it features some apt cameos from Carl Sagan, Professor Brian Cox, and theoretical physicist Andrew Strominger.

The videos director, Will Studd, said on the Aardman website: I wanted to create a stylised version of the graphics I grew up with in the ’80s. I loved the kitsch futurism of the BBCs TV version of Hitchhiker’s Guide graphics, or the weird spacey covers of Omni magazine; I wanted to bring a bit of this back to explore Stephens thoughts.

Give it a watch below.
