What You Need To Know If You Think Fashion Blogging Isn’t A Full-Time Job

Being a fashion blogger isn’t the easiest job in the world, even though everyone seems to thinkso. Eight years ago, there were almost no fashion blogs.

But gradually, they have become apolarizing subject within the fashion industry. We don’t call them “influencers” for nothing.

Even though some fashion bloggers can earn up to six figures a year, most people tend to ridiculethem. They say things like, “Get a real job, lazy.”

A lot of you will agree with this statement. I’m sure most of you believe these bloggers got lucky somehow, or that they were very rich to begin with. So, they chose “theeasiest job in the world.”

Yes, some could probably afford to pay a team of 10 peoplefrom the get go. But most of them started with cheap digital cameras and mass marketbrands.

The fashion world can be very superficial. It’s also very ruthless. So, if you’reimagining a fashion blogger just sitting on her ass and posting cute selfies, you’re definitely wrong.

This is especially the case now. Everyone is competition, and thousands upon thousands of peoplestart fashion blogs every single day.

Ladies, when you go out and really want to look your best, you usually have to pick anoutfit, apply makeup and do your hair and nails. It takes a while, right?

Now, imagine that after you get ready, you have to get to a particular location, shoot for a few hours and then getback home. After that, you have to select and edit photos, write articles and be active on all forms of social media.

Pretty time-consuming, right? This is despite the fact that some fashion bloggers also have day jobs or are students.

Some of the most famous fashion bloggers have started off by having photographer boyfriends. So, it was a bit easier for them.

But what if your boyfriend or girlfriend isn’t intophotography? What if you’re single?

In this case, you have to ask your family members and friends to take picturesof you. This is always super fun because you know that out of the100pictures they take, you’ll only be able touse four or five. Also, since you can’t afford to hire a photographer, you have to up yourPhotoshop game and buy some good photo editing apps.

Taking photos is always fun. But when you’re a fashion blogger, it’s more work than play.

Thefamous bloggers usually travel in fancy cars. But you, on the other hand, might have to take the subway or walk alot. In this case, wearing sneakers and carrying a pair of heels in your bag is your only option.

Itmight be hot. Your makeup might melt off your face. Or, it might be cold. You might realize you havenothing new to post, so you might have to wear the new dress you bought.

I had to shoot threeoutfits in one hour. But we were shooting outside, so I had to change in the middle of thestreet while people passed me by.

The bottom line is, it can be very uncomfortable. Most of the time, it is.

In the beginning, you invest a lot of time and money in the hopes that it will all pay off. It’s your passion, and you strongly believe it’s worth it.

But sometimes, it can get very superficial and lonely. The more famous you become, the more people assume your life is perfect.

“You just travel allthe time and wear nice clothes. What’s so bad about that?” they say.

There’s nothing bad about that. Ifyou manage to get to the top, you’ll have a great time. But that doesn’t mean it’seasy or simple.

We only get to see the glitz and glamour, but believe me: The road to thetop is long and bumpy.

Also, people can be really cruel online. Since more fame means morehaters, you have to grow a thick skin and learn to ignore them. If you don’t, your self-esteemcan plummet.

Let your fashion blogger friends be. They have chosen to follow their passion.

Some people save lives, and other people inspire lives. I believe fashion bloggers wouldn’t waste so many hours in the dayif they weren’t passionate about their jobs. So, maybe they’re not all as bad and lazyas you might think.
