For better or for worse, women are bombarded by images of “perfection” in ads and commercials, and that can take a toll on your body image. While there’s a movement as of late for “real” women to embrace what they have, it rarely translates to the printed page or the big screen.
Megan Jayne Crabbe is a body positivity activist who has overcome an eating disorder and now uses her platform to help women celebrate whatever body they have.
Megan was recently enlisted as a lingerie model for a campaign by UK-based lingerie brand Curvy Kate, a brand that is pushing against the message that perfection is the ideal.
This isn’t your average campaign, though…
For the shoot, Megan, who goes by bodyposipanda on Instagram, showcases the lingerie styles in various “posed” and “real” shots.
So one shot has Megan with full hair and makeup, posed, lit, and photographed by a professional photographer, while in the other she’shanging out at home in the same lingerie, makeup-free and sitting naturally.
“When it comes to pictures of models (especially lingerie models!), all we ever see are posed, polished, professional shots,” Megan said. “The angles are always the most flattering, the hair and makeup is always supernaturally perfect, the lighting and camera quality are nothing like real life.”
