As many as 50,000 residents of Louisiana’s Tangipahoa Parish were evacuated today as waters from Isaac, now downgraded to a tropical depression, threatened to breach a dam in Mississippi’s Percy Quinn State Park. Officials began a controlled release of water to keep the dam from failing.
Officials in MS are beginning to breach the dam to relieve pressure, but folks should take every precaution and prepare for the worst.

The town of Kentwood was evacuated after a flyover by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Tangipahoa Parish President Gordon Burgess. Officials estimated that flood waters could hit homes with 60 to 90 minutes in the event of a dam failure.
