A major advantage that goalies have in defending their nets is that they can get higher than all the other players, since they’re using their hands. And often, reaching up above everyone else, the safest thing to do is simply punch the ball as far away as they can.
This is a common maneuver, so goalie Lassi Hurskainen figured he was pretty good at it. But then he challenged professional boxer Robert Helenius to a soccer-ball punch-off.
It’s easy to see why he’s known as “The Nordic Nightmare”…
