If you’re afraid of spiders, then you probably shouldn’t read the rest of this story. You won’t sleep for the next month.
Ok, now that we have that out of the way, get ready for probably the worst story of a ruined vacation in the history of mankind.
Meet Dylan Thomas.
Dylan is from Australia, and likes to dress sharply.
He also enjoys hockey. USA! USA!
On a recent trip to Bali, something happened to Dylan that he won’t soon forget.
He woke up one morning to find a red scratch arching up his belly. “It was like someone had scratched me with a knife,” he said. After two trips to the hospital in almost as many hours, doctors discovered that the red line was the trail of a small tropical spider burrowing its way up his body. Yikes!
Doctors didn’t waste a moment getting to work. Eventually, they removed the spider with tweezers, which was luckily dead by the time they got it. It turned out the spider was living inside him for at least three days. Doctors suspect that spider made its way inside Dylan through a scar from a recent appendix operation.
Here’s how Dylan describes the sensation of the burrowing spider under his skin:
It wasn’t really a tickling sensation, obviously once the venom started to affect my skin it was a really burning sensation like a searing feeling.
