UPDATE: Watch NOW: Supersonic Freefall From Space [LIVE VIDEO]

Today, Felix Baumgartner will try to do something no other human has done before: He will jump from a height of 22 miles, breaking the world record for highest altitude free fall.

Baumgartner’s suit and support crew are equipped with more than 30 cameras, so every step of the jump will be covered. During the jump, which is estimated to last about 10 minutes, Baumgartner will break the sound barrier.

If successful, Baumgartner will break the record of U.S. Air Force Captain Joseph Kittinger who jumped from 102,800 feet in 1960.

The jump is a part of the Red Bull Stratos mission, and it will be broadcast live. The jump was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. ET, but due to weather conditions it has been moved to 9:30 a.m. EST at the earliest (to see the latest launch time, click play on the video). You can watch the live feed of the jump in the video above.

UPDATE, Oct. 9, 1:45 p.m.: The team has aborted the mission due to high winds. Baumgartner will attempt the jump Wednesday.
