A New GOT Election Campaign For The Iron Throne Has Been Launched

In the United States it’s very much election season, and most terrifyingly – Donald Trump could actually become the President of the United States.

But, mild terror aside, we have more important things to focus on. Namely, who’s going to end up on the Iron Throne. Way more important than the future of the USA, duh.

HBO are doing their part and encouraging people to vote…. for the future leader of the seven kingdoms.

For the month of August we can all vote for which team we want sat on the Iron Throne. Daenerys Targaryen is running with Tyrion Lannister, and they’re pledging to repopulate the dragons, unite Essos and Westoros and continue to empower women. Jon Snow, running with people’s favourite and mini badass Lyanna Mormont, is keen to rebuild the Night’s Watch, allow the Free Folk to Settle the Gift and work on the rights of illegitimate children.

Cersei Lannister, accompanied by Qyburn, wants to bail out the Iron Bank, separate the church from the crown and revise the line of succession to the Iron Throne. And, interestingly, Lord Littlefinger is working with Sansa Stark. Their platforms are transport innovation, reducing debts to the Iron Bank and increasing diplomatic ties with the North.

As it stands, Jon Snow is in the lead with 51% of votes. Daenerys is in second with 31%, and then comes Littlefinger with 16% with the despicable Cersei running up the rear with a very sad 2.3% of votes. That’s exactly what you get for killing everyone, lady.

The site encourages us all to vote with our ballots and our swords, but alas most of us don’t own swords – so we’ll have to stick to the internet. Or wearing one of these handy but quite nerdy team tshirts:

Get your votes in here people, and don’t forget you can vote once every day – so if you really really want Cersei in the lead, make sure to set a reminder on your phone. And then give up. Because no.
