Channel 4’s Naked Dating Show Had Everyone Screaming ‘WTF?’

Just when you thought TV couldn’t get any worse better, Channel 4 have come up with a show – Naked Attraction – where people choose their new “mate” by judging their body parts.

Personally I think Tinder should take this on board, and allow users to just post four photos of their varying appendages.

Joke. But seriously, this show is for real and it went out last night into people’s real life living rooms. The show, which people are calling the nudey version of the classic ‘Take Me Out’, saw both it’s contestants find love in the buff, so they must have got something right.

The first episode saw straight London-based music producer Aina and Mal, a bi designer from Guildford, take to the stage alongside host Anna Richardson. As discussed, the premise of the show is pretty simple. Six people are stripped naked and ensnared within a frosted glass cage, whilst their body parts are revealed bit by bit. The “bodies” are then eliminated until love is found by the contestants, who also have to strip, because this is Naked Attraction baby.

It’s a mix between some kind of post modern art exhibition, a recurring Cilla Black-based nightmare and some kind of torture; so of course it makes excellent TV.

Both the girls who featured on the show still seem pretty smitten with their matches. Aina picked one-legged artist (pictured above, who I definitely met this weekend dancing on the “body positive stage at Secret Garden Party) and they’re still dating one month on. Mal chose Rebecca, and they’ve since been on several dates, with Rebecca saying she felt much more relaxed on the first date, knowing they’d both already seen each other in the buff.

Associate Casting Producer, Grivas Kopti told us:

Casting for Naked Attraction was a unique and incredible experience… I was inspired by our contributor’s honesty and vulnerability. Each one of them had their own story and experiences. We cast the show to celebrate diversity in all forms and that is something I am very proud of. Ultimately, we all want to find love but have apprehensions and insecurities whilst on our quest to do so, so getting the naked bit out of the way initially alleviates so much worry for many. Would I take part if I wasnt a Producer? Abso-fucking-lutely.

The people of Twitter had mixed feelings on the show, but it definitely got their attention…

Theshow picked up better rating figures than Big Brother, so they are doing something right. Watchthe trailer here…
